Triota Honor Society
Triota (Iota Iota Iota) is a national academic and service-based Women’s and Gender Studies honor society that promotes and supports academic excellence and facilitates activism among Women’s and Gender Studies students. Since its establishment at UNC Charlotte in 2010, Triota has strived to maintain feminist values central to gender and sexuality studies:
- Egalitarianism
- Inclusiveness
- Celebration of the diversity of intersectional experiences and identities
Through community volunteering, Triota provides students with the opportunity to network, engage, and lead.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Declare or be a declared Women’s and Gender Studies Minor or have a strong interest in Women’s and Gender Studies as demonstrated through coursework
- Have achieved sophomore standing or be enrolled in the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Graduate Certificate program
- Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Have taken and passed 6 credit hours of WGST courses
To Remain in Good Standing Members Must:
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Regularly attend Triota meetings (2 per semester at minimum)
- Complete 30 hours of service related to women and gender issues each year
Members who graduate in good standing will be given an honor cord to wear with their graduation regalia.
